Introduction

The Pilates Matwork is considered a safe and effective method of rehabilitation and exercise that focuses on muscular balance, improves strength, and enhances flexibility. By improving core strength and spinal posture, Pilates can help prevent muscular imbalances and reduce inflammation in the body. Intersegmental Spinal articulation plays a significant role in maintaining spinal stability and preventing lower back pain.

Aims

To equip participants with foundational knowledge of Pilates principles for rehabilitation and spinal mobility.

To train participants in core activation, spinal articulation, and hip mobility exercises to support clinical application in physiotherapy practice.

Level 1 Movement List

  1. Spinal Flexion & Anterior Core work
  2. Spinal Extension & Back Extensor work
  3. Spinal Rotation & Obliques work
  4. Spinal Lateral Flexion & Lateral Core work

Target Audience

Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Medical Doctors who want to incorporate Pilates in their clinical practice.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn drills to improve Hip Joint mobility as a preparatory drill before Spinal articulation work.
  2. Learn drills to improve Spinal mobility in Flexion, Extension, Lateral Flexion & Rotation.
  3. Learn drills to activate the entire Core Complex(Anterior, Lateral & Posterior).
  4. Learn drills to integrate the Peripheral muscles which challenges the Core units for Spinal(Segmental & Regional) stabilisation.
