Clinical Pilates Courses in Singapore

Home/Courses/Clinical Pilates

Allied Health Academy runs clinical Pilates training for practising clinicians in Singapore. Pilates Matwork is taught here as a method of rehabilitation — focused on muscular balance, strength and flexibility — rather than as a fitness qualification.

The emphasis throughout is on what you can apply with patients: core strength and spinal posture to help prevent muscular imbalance, and intersegmental spinal articulation for spinal stability and lower back pain.

What you learn

Matwork Level 1 equips you with foundational Pilates principles for rehabilitation and spinal mobility, then trains core activation, spinal articulation and hip mobility exercises for clinical application in physiotherapy practice.

The Level 1 movement list works through:

  • Spinal flexion and anterior core work
  • Spinal extension and back extensor work
  • Spinal rotation and obliques work
  • Spinal lateral flexion and lateral core work

On completion

  • Drills to improve hip joint mobility as preparation before spinal articulation work
  • Drills to improve spinal mobility in flexion, extension, lateral flexion and rotation
  • Drills to activate the entire core complex — anterior, lateral and posterior
  • Drills that integrate peripheral muscles to challenge the core units for segmental and regional spinal stabilisation

Who it's for

Physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and medical doctors incorporating Pilates into clinical practice. If you are building a broader manual-therapy skill set, our physiotherapy course listing covers spinal articular therapy and manual therapy alongside this.

Common questions

Who is the clinical Pilates course for?

Physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and medical doctors who want to incorporate Pilates into their clinical practice. It is taught as rehabilitation, not as a fitness qualification.

Do I need a Pilates background to attend?

No. Matwork Level 1 starts from foundational Pilates principles for rehabilitation and spinal mobility, so clinicians new to the method can begin here.

What does Matwork Level 1 cover?

The Level 1 movement list works through spinal flexion and anterior core, spinal extension and back extensors, spinal rotation and obliques, and spinal lateral flexion and lateral core — alongside hip mobility drills used as preparation for spinal articulation work.

How is this different from a general Pilates certification?

The framing is clinical throughout. The emphasis is on core activation, intersegmental spinal articulation and hip mobility as tools you apply with patients in physiotherapy practice, rather than on teaching Pilates classes.

How long is the course?

Clinical Pilates Matwork Level 1 runs over 2 days.
