Introduction

This course is designed to provide physiotherapists with comprehensive insights into the assessment, management, and rehabilitation of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders. Participants will learn evidence-based approaches and practical techniques to effectively manage patients presenting with TMJ dysfunction.

Aims

To equip participants with foundational and advanced knowledge of TMJ anatomy, biomechanics, and pathology. To train participants in practical assessment techniques and effective physiotherapy interventions for TMJ disorders.

Outline

The course content is divided into the following areas:

  1. Anatomy and biomechanics of the TMJ
  2. Common pathologies and dysfunctions of the TMJ
  3. Research evidence on TMJ risk factors and treatment effectiveness
  4. Clinical assessment methods
  5. Manual therapy techniques

Target Audience

It is aimed at physiotherapists working in musculoskeletal settings for at least two years or those who want to improve their clinical skills.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Perform a comprehensive assessment of the TMJ and related structures.
  • Identify common TMJ disorders and their underlying causes.
