Introduction

This course equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to assess, diagnose, and manage groin pain. Delivered as a two-part course, it begins with online learning before progressing to an in-person practical workshop. With a focus on adductor, pubic, hip, and iliopsoas-related presentations, participants will learn to differentiate between underlying causes and apply current best-practice management strategies in clinical practice.

Aims

To equip healthcare professionals with an evidence-based framework for assessing, diagnosing, and managing hip and groin pain.

To develop clinical reasoning skills that enable participants to differentiate common groin pain presentations and apply effective assessment and treatment strategies integrating manual therapy with active rehabilitation.

Outline

Part 1: Online Learning

Complete five self-paced modules before the practical workshop, approximately 2 hours in total (access released at least two weeks before the practical workshop)

Module 1: Facts and Figures

Module 2: Objective Examination I

  • Medical history

Module 3: Objective Examination II

  • Clinical assessment
  • Manual examination
  • Active testing

Module 4: Management I

  • Medical management
  • Surgical management
  • Conservative (non-surgical) management

Module 5: Management II

  • Practical evidence-based management strategies
  • Clinical application

Part 2: Hands-On Practical Workshop

Apply the concepts learned online through guided practical sessions focusing on:

  • Practical application of assessment and treatment techniques
  • Identification and management of common clinical presentations
  • Case-based clinical reasoning
  • Integration of active and passive treatment approaches

Target Audience

Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Medical Doctors and Athletic Coaches involved in the assessment and management of hip and groin pain across a variety of clinical settings, in both athletic and non-athletic populations.

Learning Outcomes

  1. An advanced clinical understanding of hip and groin pain, including common differential diagnoses
  2. The ability to apply evidence-based assessment and management strategies, integrating active and passive techniques, in patients with hip and groin pain
